Hreflang Pro: A faster way to audit Hreflang

Hreflang can look fine on the page and still be broken across the wider cluster.

That is the problem Hreflang Pro is designed to solve. Instead of checking a single page in isolation, the Chrome extension follows the alternate URLs, checks how they reference each other and gives you a clearer view of the whole hreflang setup.

Hreflang Pro checks implementations across HTML, HTTP Link headers and XML sitemaps, including sitemap indexes discovered through robots.txt. It then validates the alternate pages against each other rather than simply reporting the tags found on the starting URL.

What Hreflang Pro checks

The extension runs more than 25 checks across the hreflang cluster, including missing return links, missing self-references, invalid language or regional codes, canonicals, redirects, noindex conflicts and x-default issues. It also flags differences between HTML and sitemap implementations, along with hreflang injected through JavaScript.

One of the most useful parts is the cluster matrix. Every page sits against every language or regional version, making it much easier to spot missing or broken relationships without working through pages one at a time.

The extension also checks things that can be easy to miss during a quick manual review, including robots.txt blocks, X-Robots-Tag directives, browser-language redirects, tracking parameters, fragments and html lang or Content-Language mismatches.

Built for practical SEO work

Hreflang Pro gives the cluster a health score from 0 to 100 and prioritises the issues it finds. Results can be exported as CSV, JSON, Markdown or a PNG of the matrix, depending on whether you are working on a dev ticket, audit, client report or wider workflow.

There is also a Safe Mode for sites that rate-limit more aggressively, including platforms such as Shopify. Requests are throttled and retried rather than firing at the site as quickly as possible.

Everything runs locally in your Chrome browser. There is no account, no sign-up and no site data being sent off to an external platform.

If you are dealing with hreflang issues, international SEO or a site where regional pages are not behaving as expected, Hreflang Pro gives you a quick way to understand the implementation before you start digging through spreadsheets.
