What is SpiderLing?
Lexical Computing says SpiderLing collects text from publicly accessible pages to build corpora for linguistic analysis; it is not a generative-AI or general search crawler. The operator also uses the SketchEngine user-agent identifier. Its published policy says it follows robots.txt, avoids nofollow links and waits at least 20 seconds between requests to a domain within one crawl project.

How to Control SpiderLing
Block Completely
To prevent SpiderLing from accessing your entire website, add this to your robots.txt file:
User-agent: SpiderLing
Disallow: /
Block Specific Directories
To restrict access to certain parts of your site while allowing others:
User-agent: SpiderLing
Disallow: /admin/
Disallow: /private/
Disallow: /wp-admin/
Allow: /public/
Set Crawl Delay
To slow down the crawl rate (note: not all bots respect this directive):
User-agent: SpiderLing
Crawl-delay: 10
How to Verify SpiderLing
Verification Method:
The operator documents the SpiderLing and SketchEngine identifiers, but does not publish an IP or DNS verification method on this page. A user-agent match alone cannot authenticate a request.

Detection Patterns
Multiple ways to detect SpiderLing in your application:
Basic Pattern
